In a big marketing move, Ford Performance has turned into Ford Racing as the motorsports wing of the company evolves. There is a lot going on with Ford for the 2026 season across the globe in motorsports. This rebrand gets out in front of that.

While this rebrand goes beyond what Ford does in NASCAR and the United States, that aspect shouldn’t be overlooked. If this is a recommittment to motorsports by Ford with the new “Ford Racing” moniker, that’s a good thing.

When you look at how Chevrolet and Toyota have set up their motorsports and performance teams, development programs, and more, it’s about time Ford catches up. Perhaps this will be the beginning of a new chapter for the company, where they begin to not only develop new technology but also the drivers who will be piloting these vehicles.

Of course, if you stay for the end of the video, you get a glimpse of what 2026 means for Ford and the future of its motorsports program. Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing will be a Ford team next F1 season. A massive get for the company as it returns to F1 and hopes to make noise in the sport once again.

Will Ford, GM of Ford Racing, released a statement on the rebrand. This appears to be a major commitment to getting Ford back in the conversation when it comes to major motorsports across the world.

“So today, we are announcing that Ford Performance is changing its name to Ford Racing. But this is so much more than a simple rebranding exercise,” Ford said. “This is the wholesale reintroduction of our racing brand and signals a completely new way of thinking about the business, brand, and products that our racing efforts bring to life.”

Ford and motorsports are synonymous. To see this rebrand is promising, if you are a Blue Oval fan. It has perhaps been long overdue.

This year, Ford has had a few major wins. In NASCAR, it is clear that Ford is behind Chevy and Toyota. Not just in the Cup Series but the Xfinity Series as well. If it weren’t for Front Row Motorsports in the Truck Series, it would be a dire situation.

If Ford is going to be the team of Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing, then it needs to be ready to take on that role. It appears that Red Bull is changing many of its teams to Ford.

Red Bull is going to Ford in F1 and in Supercars. So, it makes you wonder about other teams. NASCAR has a couple of Red Bull-sponsored drivers. Is there a future where Trackhouse, SVG, and Connor Zilisch move to Ford?
