Former Sooner wide receiver Dede Westbrook was one of the best receivers in the remarkably proud history of the Oklahoma football program. On Saturday, he had some incredibly exciting news to share with the folks in Norman, Oklahoma. Westbrook will be opening up a restaurant in Norman called “Go Crazy End Zone Eats”.

Check out the post he made to his Twitter page on Saturday evening.

The tweet was liked by over 1,400 people so clearly fans are excited for his new restaurant. He’s not the only former Oklahoma great to bring a restaurant to Norman. One of the greatest receivers in college football history, former Sooner Ryan Broyles, opened up The Porch in 2017.

During his time with the Oklahoma program, Westbrook etched his name in school history. In the 2015 season, he earned Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year honors after hauling in 46 catches for 743 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Westbrook followed that season up with one of the best seasons by a receiver in Oklahoma football history. In 2016 against the Texas Longhorns, he broke Ryan Broyles single-game receiving yardage record by reeling in 232 receiving yards. That would be just the beginning in a season full of accolades for the Texas native. Westbrook led the Big 12 in receiving yardage (1,524 receiving yards) and pulled in 17 touchdowns.

Those numbers help him bring in countless accolades, including: Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors, unanimous All-American honors, and the Biletnikoff Award. He became the first receiver in Oklahoma football history to win the Biletnikoff, given to the nation’s top wide receiver. On top of all of that, Westbrook finished as a 2016 Heisman Trophy finalist–earning fourth place in the voting behind Baker Mayfield (3rd), Deshaun Watson (2nd), and Lamar Jackson (1st).

Before he enrolled at Oklahoma–Westbrook suited up for the Blinn College Buccaneers–the junior college that Cam Newton made famous. There, the Texas native shined–reeling in 1,471 receiving yards and 13 touchdown catches in a breakout season. The breakout year landed him 30 scholarship offers from schools across the country and he ultimately chose the Oklahoma Sooners.

In the NFL, the former Sooner great has had a disappointing career, but has still put together two seasons of over 600 receiving yards (2018 and 2019 with the Jacksonville Jaguars). A few weeks ago in late May, the Minnesota Vikings gave Westbrook a tryout to see if they wanted to possibly sign him in the future.
