FOX Sports to stream 'Wienie 500' race between six Oscar Mayer cars at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

The greatest weekend in motorsports just got even greater. Oscar Mayer announced Tuesday that its fleet of Wienermobiles will go head-to-head in the inaugural Wienie 500.
The race will take place Friday, May 23, at 2 p.m. ET at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The FOX Sports app and IndyCar on FOX‘s social media accounts will carry coverage.
Six Wienermobiles representing a different regional dog will compete: the Chi Dog (Midwest), New York Dog (East), Slaw Dog (Southeast), Sonoran Dog (Southwest), Chili Dog (South) and Seattle Dog (Northwest). The winner will make its way to “Wiener’s Circle,” and receive a condiment spray and, of course, a hot dog.

“The Indy 500 marks the unofficial kickoff of summer and the start of hot dog season,” said Kelsey Rice, brand communications director at Oscar Mayer. “As a brand known for sparking smiles in disarmingly delightful ways, it’s only fitting that we bring a race of epic proportions to the Speedway and celebrate a timeless tradition: delicious meats and a little friendly competition to kick off a summer of wieners.”
The Wienie 500 will serve as an appetizer to Sunday’s stacked schedule of events. At 9 a.m., Formula One‘s most prestigious event, the Monaco Grand Prix, gets underway. Nearly four hours later, at 12:45 p.m., the green flag will drop for the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500. NASCAR will close it out with the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, set for a 6:00 p.m. start time.
But it all begins with the Wienie 500. For some, this will be the crown jewel race of the weekend. Which dog will cross the start/finish line first? We’ll all have to tune in to find out.
