Frankie Muniz suffers broken wrist at home, indefinitely out of NASCAR Truck Series

Unfortunate news for Frankie Muniz. The Reaume Brothers Racing driver has suffered a broken wrist at home. Muniz, according to his team, will be out indefinitely, and there is no timeline for his return to the No. 33 Ford F-150 this season.

Reaume Brothers Racing announced the news today ahead of this weekend’s race at Darlington. The Truck Series begins the final seven-race stretch of the season in the playoffs. Muniz was not part of the 10-driver field.

“Frankie Muniz was involved in an accident at his home in Arizona yesterday morning where he suffered a distal radius fracture in his wrist,” RBR said in a statement. “Currently there is no timeline for his return, our focus is on a speedy recovery and competing together again soon. Mason Maggio will race the No. 33 this weekend in place of Frankie.”

So, this season hasn’t been the best for Frankie Muniz. He has had seven DNFs this year. Most of those have been mechanical failures, blown tires, and other random mishaps. However, there have been a few bright spots this season. At Daytona, Muniz raced to a P10 finish in the draft. He had a P14 finish at Michigan.

While RBR isn’t putting a timeline on his return, Muniz has released his own statement. Perhaps there is a path for him to return in 2025.

Frankie Muniz reveals recovery timeline for broken wrist

With all of the bad luck that Frankie Muniz has had on the track, it was bound to catch up to him off the track. The actor-driver has expressed his frustrations with the mechanical failures and other problems this season. While it’s been a struggle, this incident takes the cake.

Muniz released a statement on social media earlier today. It reveals he does have a path to return to the No. 33 truck.

“The phrase ‘FML’ (Frankie Muniz’s Life) takes on new meaning with moments like these. I’m disappointed to share that I won’t be racing at Darlington this weekend or for the next few weeks due to a distal radius fracture,” Muniz posted online. “Yesterday, I fell from the top of a ladder while changing the batteries in a Ring camera in my backyard. Note to self: heed the ladder warning that says, ‘Do not sit or stand on top step.’ In hindsight, a taller ladder would’ve been smarter.

“While I’m gutted to miss the races, I’m grateful it wasn’t worse. I feel for my team, who’ve poured their hearts into this season, and I’m thankful for [Ford Performance] and their unwavering support. The doctor estimates a 6-8 week recovery, so I’ll be back in the driver’s seat as soon as I’m cleared.”

Will Frankie Muniz race again in 2025? While that remains to be seen, Muniz seems somewhat positive about a return. So, for now, RBR is going to do its best to put trucks on the track and fulfill its obligations.
