Freddie Kraft revealed a hilarious interaction after Bubba Wallace won Stage 2 of the NASCAR Cup Series Talladega race on Sunday. On the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Kraft, who is Wallace’s spotter, talked about a conversation he had with Austin Cindric‘s spotter Doug Campbell after Cindric pushed Wallace to the stage win.

“I went down to Doug, and they’re all down there talking amongst themselves,” Kraft said. “I went down and said, ‘Dougie! Thanks for the push, buddy!’ He just got mad and turned around and walked away. But yeah, that was fun for me. Bubba had a good tweet last night: ‘Ignore the naysayers, Austin. You did a good job in Stage 2,’ or something like that.”

When Bubba Wallace won Stage 2, Joey Logano verbally attacked teammate Austin Cindric. Logano was looking to win the second stage, and Cindric was pushing him. But when Cindric slowed up, it killed Logano’s speed.

“Way to go Austin, way to go, you dumb f***!” Joey Logano said, via Jeff Gluck of The Athletic. “Way to f***ing go. What a stupid s**t. You just gave it to him. Gave a Toyota a stage win. Nice job. Way to go. What a dumbass. Put that in the book again.”

Ultimately, it didn’t matter because Logano was disqualified from the Talladega race for spoiler violations. Cindric won the race, and Wallace earned a P8 finish. And after the race, Wallace wrote on X/Twitter, “Big AC [Austin Cindric] fan in stage 2… don’t listen to the naysayers, you were perfect!”

On Tuesday, Logano explained his frustration with Cindric’s role in Wallace’s stage win on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. “You go superspeedway racing, there’s different rules in place for the teams,” Logano said, per NBC Sports. “There’s the (manufacturer) rules, there’s the team rules and you try to put these all in place to try to give your cars the best chance to win. Everyone knows superspeedways you’ve got to work together. … The rules that were set in place weren’t followed. That ticked me off quite a bit because I feel like I’ve always done the right thing and try really hard to do that.

“The rules have been put in place because of things we have done wrong in the past. You don’t want to make the same mistakes over and over again. It wasn’t the first offense kind of situation. It was the straw that broke the camel’s back, and, yeah, I lit up pretty quickly because I care. I am into racing, I am in 100%, and I expect things to go a certain way. When they don’t, yeah, I get pissed off.”
