Remember when Micah Parsons ripped Nico Iamaleava for leaving Tennessee amid NIL discussions? Well, even if you don’t, Freezing Cold Takes does, and they let the Dallas Cowboys star know about it after his trade request went viral on Friday.

Parsons slammed Iamaleava for essentially holding out of spring practice in hopes of a better deal with the Volunteers: “College football is a joke now!” he posted back in April. “Yall minds well make college into a semi pro league! Actually hold players accountable to the contracts they sign!”

Evidently, Freezing Cold Takes thought that was topical on a day like today. They posted a screenshot of Parsons’ statement on their social media account, as the Cowboys star requested a trade from Dallas on Friday afternoon. Check it out below.

That’s cold. But they don’t call them Freezing Cold Takes for no reason. Parsons may have many on his side after requesting a trade, but it’s evident some are getting a kick out of his prior opinion regarding honoring contracts and what not.

Now, the question becomes whether the Cowboys decide they’re done with Parsons, like Tennessee did with their quarterback, or if bridges can be mended. A similar situation played out earlier this offseason involving Cleveland Browns star defender Myles Garrett.

At the moment, Dallas has no intention of trading Parsons, per Dianna Russini of The Athletic. Hours before Parsons submitted his official trade request, Russini reported that Parsons was considering taking “drastic measures which could include a trade request.”

Parsons, 26, is entering the final year of his rookie deal. The two-time All-Pro pass rusher revealed that he initially approached the Cowboys about a contract extension after the 2023 season. Dallas “did not want to start any negotiations at that point,” per Parsons.

Fast forward to this past March, Parsons met with Jones to talk about leadership. Parsons said the conversation shifted into a discussion about his contract. He informed Jones that his agent, David Mulugheta, would reach out.

When Mulugheta reached out, he was told the deal was “pretty much already done” — this wasn’t the case. From there, the Cowboys “went silent,” according to Parsons.

“Up to today, the team has not had a single conversation with my agent about a contract,” Parsons said. “Not one demand has been made by my agent about money, years or anything else.”

Time will tell what the decision is, but all eyes are on Dallas. Micah Parsons, the 2021 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, has made the Pro Bowl in each of his four NFL seasons and is a two-time First-Team All-Pro selection. He earned Second-Team All-Pro honors in 2023, and has tallied double-digit sacks every season, totaling 52.5.
