We know what was said going into the game that led to the on-field spat between Liam Coen, head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Robert Saleh, defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers. Now, because of some newly-posted on-field footage, we know some of what was actually said between the two postgame.

@ActionSportsJax posted the better clip of the interaction between the two coaches, with Coen blowing past Saleh who was trying to shake his hand postgame. But, whatever may have been said afterward, Coen turned around a few seconds later to tell Saleh to “keep my name out of your mouth”.

The original clips on social media were only from the broadcast’s angles, with it just showing Coen being held back in whatever words he was sharing with Saleh. This, though, gives us a better look at what was actually said between the two and the moments leading to it.

This took place because of some game-week comments made by Saleh that Coen clearly took exception to. Saleh had said that Jacksonville’s staff, in their first year with the franchise, uses a legal, “really advanced signal-stealing-type system” when talking about San Francisco’s preparation for Sunday’s game. Coen then didn’t fully comment or address it in response going into the game, but obviously did so with something to say postgame.

Coen also got the last word after having actually won on the field. Jacksonville went to the west coast and won 26-21 over San Francisco, which evened their two records as the Jaguars moved to 3-1, for their best start since 2018, and the 49ers went to 3-1 in their first loss of the season. The Jags led by as much as a dozen as they forced five turnovers, a pair of interceptions and fumbles as well as one on downs, against the ‘Niners.

We still didn’t hear much else as far as what was said to one another even in the close-up clip. Still, Coen certainly wasn’t pleased with Saleh, even after the win, with what was said earlier in the week.

Kyle Shanahan reacts to Saleh, Coen postgame blowup

Following the Jaguars’ road win over the 49ers on Sunday, Liam Coen and DC Robert Saleh exchanged some words about comments which were made earlier in the week. Kyle Shanahan has since reacted to the incident, with him calling out the opposing head coach for reacting how he did postgame.

Shanahan was asked about the exchange between Coen and Saleh postgame after the 26-21 win for Jacksonville over San Francisco. He said that he didn’t see it happen in the moment on the field, but also that he thought that Coen took what was said too sensitively based on what he did after winning the game today.

“No, tried to clear it up, but I didn’t see what happened so I’m not sure,” said Shanahan. “Don’t think you should be that sensitive about it, but it is what it is. Not too worried about it.”
