Garrett Nussmeier proposed to his girlfriend, Ella Springfield, the LSU quarterback revealed on his Instagram story. She said yes.

He posted the photo of their engagement with her smiling and showing off the massive rock on her ring finger. “Forever us,” Nussmeier wrote in the photo. Nussmeier’s new fiancé also posted about it on her Instagram story, posting a selfie of the two with the caption, “I get to marry my best friend!!!”

That’s big news for the Tigers QB1 ahead of the 2025 college football season. Take a look at the happy couple, as well as the ring he gave her below.

Now, Nussmeier will get to wrap up his summer slate with fall training camp before beginning his final season of eligibility. He’s coming off a 2024 season in which he led LSU to a 6-1 start. The Tigers looked to be in contention for a spot in the College Football Playoff before three consecutive losses in SEC play hindered their postseason bid.

LSU ended up finishing the season with a 9-4 record during Nussmeier’s first season as starting quarterback. However, his numbers were among the best in the SEC last season.

He finished the season with 4,052 passing yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. It was a great start for the senior from Lake Charles, but he has one more opportunity to lead his team to the CFP.

Nussmeier will have more than one outside distraction surrounding him this season. He’s expected to be one of the top quarterbacks in this year’s draft cycle. Now on top of that, he’ll have to be involved in the planning of his wedding on top of that.

“For me, I’m just focused on our team,” Nussmeier said before his proposal, speaking on his NFL Draft projections. “I’m focused on our team goals and I’m focused on being the best that I can be for my teammates. Obviously, you can’t completely ignore all the outside noise. You’re lying if you say that you don’t hear it. So I definitely hear it.”

Nussmeier will have to wait until his wedding day to put his ring on. In the meantime, he’ll hope to secure another ring by the end of his college career.

“My main goal is to help lead the LSU Tigers to a national championship and let the rest fall into place,” he said. That effort begins on Aug. 30 on the road vs. Clemson.
