New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson is expected to miss at least three to four weeks, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. Wilson suffered a knee sprain in Sunday’s 27-20 Week 10 victory over the Cleveland Browns. The injury won’t require surgery.

Wilson, 25, missed New York’s previous two games with an injury to the same knee. He reinjured it in the third quarter of Sunday’s contest. Even with Wilson on the field, the Jets struggled to establish much of a passing attack against the Browns. Quarterback Justin Fields completed just 6-of-11 passes for 54 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Wilson was targeted three times, failing to secure a catch.

His third and final target came via a deep pass from Fields. Wilson came up with a limp, and he was seen on the exercise bike before heading to the locker room.

“I want to see exactly what the docs say before I stamp anything as far as that, but usually when you have that situation, adrenaline is going during the game,” head coach Aaron Glenn said after the game. “But after the game, everything kind of slows down. Again, I want to see what the docs say.”

Jets down Garrett Wilson moving forward, need others to step up

Wilson is far and away the Jets’ leading receiver. He has hauled in 36 passes for 395 yards and four touchdowns. New York’s next leading pass catcher is rookie tight end Mason Taylor, who has 30 receptions for 246 yards and a score. As a whole, the Jets have the NFL‘s 32nd ranked passing offense.

With Wilson and Josh Reynolds (hip) sidelined, New York is down to Arian Smith, Tyler Johnson, Isaiah Williams and John Metchie III as its primary receivers. Allen Lazard was a healthy scratch against the Browns, while Adonai Mitchell, acquired in the Sauce Gardner trade, did not suit up Sunday. He could be available to make his team debut this Thursday against the New England Patriots.

“That’s the plan — for him to come here, get a change of scenery,” Glenn said last week of Mitchell. “Because he is definitely talented. I think you guys already know that from what he did in college coming to the NFL. So, he’s excited to be here, I do know that.”
