On Wednesday, police arrested former three-weight world champion boxer Gervonta Davis on charges of battery, false imprisonment and attempted kidnapping. The Miami Gardens Police <a href="https://www.on3.com/pro/news/wba-champion-boxer-gervonta-tank-davis-wanted-by-miami-gardens-police-for-alleged-domestic-violence/">issued</a> an arrest warrant for Davis on Jan. 14, but had not apprehended him until yesterday.



<a href="https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/47762592/boxer-gervonta-davis-arrested-miami-two-week-search">Per ESPN</a>, Davis was booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at 10 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Davis’ charges stem from an alleged domestic violence incident in October.



The alleged incident occurred at a gentleman’s club in Miami Gardens, where the victim worked. Davis’ ex-girlfriend filed a lawsuit days later in which she alleged Davis entered the club where she worked as a VIP cocktail server and attacked her in a back room that did not have cameras, according to ESPN.



The suit alleged Davis grabbed the victim by the back of her head with one hand while holding her throat with the other. He allegedly dragged her through a stairwell, kitchen and the back exit before physically assaulting her in the parking garage.



Police reviewed surveillance footage from the club. The footage reportedly corroborates the victim’s account of events.



Davis has a history of legal issues, including previous charges of domestic violence. In 2023, Davis was sentenced to three years of probation and a 90-day house arrest following a hit-and-run case in Baltimore.



Davis was set to face Jake Paul in a boxing match in November, but was forced to drop out of the bout after the lawsuit was filed against Davis in Miami. Paul <a href="https://www.on3.com/pro/news/jake-paul-reveals-he-broke-jaw-during-anthony-joshua-fight/">ultimately fought</a> Anthony Joshua instead, but spoke out against Davis following the incident.



“Gervonta Davis is an actual walking human piece of garbage. Working with him is an absolute nightmare,” Paul <a href="https://x.com/jakepaul/status/1985546734483755433?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">wrote</a> on X. “The unprofessionalism, the bizarre requests, the showing up hours late to shoots. To the numerous arrests and related accusations and lawsuits. If you support this man you support the most vile sin a man can commit.



“I didn’t want to give this woman abuser a platform to grow his fans and to grow his bank account. My company champions women. I’m so sorry to everyone involved. …  It’s scary that devilish men like this can rise to the top of culture and sports, including in positions of power.”



Davis boasts a career record of 30-0-1. His last fight was on March 1, 2025, against Lamont Roach Jr. It was the lone draw of Davis’ career.
