There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home. Gradey Dick will find out where his NBA home is tonight at the 2023 NBA Draft while wearing a “The Wizard of Oz” inspired outfit.

The NBA revealed the likely-lottery-pick’s sparkling red outfit for the big day on social media. Dick explained the unique wardrobe choice.

“It’s all from Kansas. Dorothy has her little slippers. I got my Dorothy suit,” Dick said.

Dick is a Kansas boy down to the core. The 6-foot-8 guard grew up in Wichita, Kan., exiting high school as a five star recruit and the No. 17 player in the nation in the Class of 2022, according to On3 Industry Rankings.

Fittingly, Dick played under head coach Bill Self at Kansas. While Dick was only a Jayhawk for one year, he made quite the impact. The 19-year-old made 83 3-pointers in the 2022-2023 season, setting the Kansas record for 3-point field goals made.

Additionally, Dick was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team, All-Big 12 Newcomer Team and the All-Big 12 Freshman Team. His statistics back up his accolades. Dick averaged 14.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while shooting 40% from deep in his lone season as a Jayhawk.

NBA experts expect Dick to have similar success at the professional level.

“At 6-foot-8, Dick has prototypical size for an NBA wing, and he projects to slide between shooting guard and small forward at the next level. Outside shooting projects to be his biggest asset, but Dick is far more than just a three-point specialist. Dick drained nearly 49% of his two-point attempts at Kansas and worked his way to the free-throw line 3.0 times per 40 minutes,” according to NBA.com.

Eye-catching outfits have worked out in the past on draft night. Look at Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who dropped jaws with his floral fit back in 2018. Or, perhaps, check out Darius Garland who rocked a nehru-collared white button shirt with an ecru Kimono.

While these two examples aren’t as flashy as Dick’s clothing choice, perhaps that only means the Kansas star will shine brighter. Tune into ESPN at 8 p.m. ET to see where Dick and his dazzling garb is drafted. One thing is certain: he won’t be in Kansas anymore.
