The Green Bay Packers are preparing for a NFC North divisional matchup with the Chicago Bears tomorrow. As they ready for an all-important game, Green Bay made their final roster moves prior.

Tomorrow, the team will elevate wide receiver Juwann Winfree from their practice squad to the active roster for gameday. The transaction was announced Saturday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.

Additionally, the Packers announced that offensive tackle Dennis Kelly has been downgraded to out for tomorrow’s game against the Bears. Due to a back injury, Kelly will not travel with the team.

Winfree was a sixth round pick for the Denver Broncos in the 2019 NFL Draft. Since being released by the team prior to the 2020 season, he’s spent time between the Packers active roster and their practice squad.

In his career, he’s never registered a reception. Perhaps that could change tomorrow as the Packers take on the Bears.

Packers release injury report ahead of Bears game

The Green Bay Packers have released their injury report for Friday heading into Sunday’s matchup against the Chicago Bears.

As speculated throughout the week, the Packers will officially be without both starting corners, Jaire Alexander and Kevin King. Green Bay already knew they would be without Alexander as he is on their short-term injured reserve list.

However, King is a fresh scratch after injuring his shoulder in the fourth quarter in last Sunday’s game. Before Sunday’s game against Cincinnati, King had missed the Packers’ previous two games due to concussion protocol.

When asked about how the team will fare without their starting corners, head coach Matt LaFleur expressed that the Packers have strength in numbers.

“We’ve got lot of different guys we can put out there,” LaFleur said. “Rasul is one of the guys. Ike (Yiadom), who has been here for a while now. And then we also have Sully and Shemar, and then we’ve got Quinton Dunbar on the p-squad. So we’ve got plenty of options.”

The Packers will also be without receiver Malik Taylor on Sunday. Taylor has been placed on the reserve/ COVID-19 list, according to general manager Brian Gutekunst. It is uncertain if the receiver has contracted the virus due to the agreement between the NFL and NFLPA. But what we do know for certain is he will not be available Sunday.
