The Green Bay Packers moved running back Kylin Hill to the regular season PUP list in order to help trim their roster down to 80 players. Hill suffered an ACL tear in Week 8 of last season, and began training camp on the PUP list for Green Bay. The Packers moved him to the regular season PUP list in order to free up a spot on their current preseason roster, at the cost of forcing him to miss at least four games in the regular season.

Packers place Kylin Hill on PUP list

“Green Bay Packers placed Kylin Hill on reserve/physically unable to perform and released Danny Davis and Vernon Scott,” explained Pro Football Network‘s Aaron Wilson on Tuesday.

Tuesday is the deadline for NFL teams to make additional cuts to reduce their rosters to 80 players, forcing the Packers to make tough decisions when it comes to injured players. The former seventh-round draft pick out of Mississippi State rushed for 10 times as a rookie for 24 yards, but made a much bigger impact as a kick returner. Hill returned 10 kickoffs for 199 yards in the eight games he appeared in before injury.

Hill’s return to the roster will now be at least five weeks into the regular season if he’s ready to go, and he will compete for touches behind Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon most likely.

Additionally, Vernon Scott‘s release means the former seventh-round pick will go to waivers now. If unclaimed by another team, Scott will move to the Packers injured reserve list where the team will likely reach an injury settlement and part ways with the former TCU safety.

Wide receiver Danny Davis from Wisconsin also saw his time with the Packers this preseason come to an end with this round of cuts. Davis caught a touchdown pass in the Packers preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers, but his recent battle with an ankle injury didn’t help his chances at a roster spot.
