Green flag for NASCAR FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan on hold due to rain

The NASCAR FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway is on hold while rain moves through the area. NASCAR officials are hoping to get the track dry and get to racing as soon as the can.
There are no wet-weather tires for Michigan. Those tires are reserved for tracks no bigger than one mile in length. Besides, the speeds at Michigan mixed with the rain don’t bode well for anyone no matter what tires you have.
NASCAR at Michigan is on hold. The green flag will drop when the track is dry, and let’s hope that we won’t encounter any more delays. A hard out tonight at 8:20 with no lights at the track.
If the race gets to halfway or to the end of Stage 2, whichever comes first, it will be official. If not, we could be seeing Monday racing. Let’s hope we see all 400 miles today, right folks?
NASCAR was able to get engines fired, but they were shut off almost immediately. Drivers were able to get a couple of pace laps in before the rain showed up at the track. A heavy downpour followed and it took a while to wait it out.
At this moment, 3:30 PM EST, the jet dryers are on the track and attempting to get it dried in time for racing. There is more rain heading towards the track, so that could play a factor. The track might get dry in time to get wet again.
This Michigan weekend has been plagued by the rain and weather. Delays and cancellations have been common in the last two days. Everyone wants to get racing today, but there is a hard out at sunset tonight.

NASCAR fans in Michigan boo Austin Dillon
f you thought Austin Dillon was going to gain some goodwill among NASCAR fans for intentionally wrecking two of the sport’s most polarizing drivers in Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin during last Sunday’s race at Richmond, well, you were wrong.
Dillon, making his way onto the stage for driver introductions ahead of Sunday’s FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan, was showered with a chorus of boos from the crowd in attendance. Dillon blew a kiss to the crowd in response, proving he’s more than capable of playing the heel.
In case you were wondering, the reactions weren’t all that better for Logano and Hamlin. Logano had a mix of cheers and boos. Hamlin received nothing but boos, which is commonplace at every racetrack around the country.
Dillon, as we found out Wednesday, had his automatic playoff berth revoked and was docked 25 points. He and his team are appealing the penalty, which will be heard Wednesday.
