Harrison Burton announces departure from AM Racing after one Xfinity Series season

Harrison Burton announced Wednesday that he is parting ways with AM Racing at the conclusion of the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. AM Racing confirmed Burton’s departure in a separate statement.
Burton said he will make known the next chapter of his racing career at a future date. Likewise, AM Racing will “share additional updates regarding a 2026 driver” at a later date.
“I want to thank AM Racing, Tim Self, and Wade Moore for the opportunity and trust at a pivotal moment in my career after I lost my Cup seat entering 2025,” Burton wrote. “From day one, the group’s commitment and preparation helped us deliver tangible progress. So far, we have team-record top-five and top-ten results and the organization’s first trip to the Xfinity Series playoffs.
“I’m proud of how we show up each week, compete at the highest level, and finish strong. I’m also grateful for the people who made this possible: our crew members, engineers, office staff, partners, and the fans who have our backs everywhere we race. This season reminded me why I love competing; the teamwork, the focus, and the fight. I’m super excited about the next chapter and will announce my plans at a future date.”

Harrison Burton out at AM Racing
Burton joined AM Racing ahead of the 2025 season following his departure from Wood Brothers Racing in the Cup Series. The 24-year-old had a tough go in Cup, though he did deliver Wood Brothers its 100th Cup win in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway, clinching him a spot in the playoffs. Wood Brothers replaced him with Josh Berry for the 2025 season.
Burton returned to Xfinity, where he saw previous success with Joe Gibbs Racing. Piloting the No. 25 Ford, Burton has tallied 10 top 10s and two top 5s in 29 starts. He qualified for the postseason on points, delivering AM Racing its first playoff berth in Xfinity competition. Burton was eliminated from the playoffs in the Round of 12 finale this past Saturday at the Charlotte ROVAL.
“I’m proud of the season we’ve had,” Burton said after the race. “It’s been a lot of fun to make the playoffs and go to Bristol, a huge highlight for us to run in a really competitive way to start our playoffs. We just didn’t end it the right way.”
