Kevin Harvick has one question when it comes to Chase Briscoe and Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) winning their penalty appeal against NASCAR. On Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour, Harvick wanted to know why the public can’t see the appeals process.

“They overturn this penalty, so why aren’t the appeals public?” Harvick asked. “I don’t understand. What are we hiding? This is another scenario that we could be way more open with the fans and the people to understand the process to see what it was all about. You imagine how many people would tune in to that to watch? I would love to tune in and see how this all goes. If you want to be as open as possible with everybody, let’s make the appeals public. Let’s put them on TV.”

Kevin Harvick continued, “If you’re trying to be transparent with everybody, why is the appeals process not public? I want to see it, I want to hear it, I want to beleive it. That’s what I want to see. How do you make me beleive that something is flawed, and you didn’t show the 19 (Briscoe) favoritism, or you didn’t show Austin Cindric favoritism? Prove to me that you’re not showing favoritism. I think that publicly broadcasting the appeals process would make them more transparent for everybody to beleive exactly what they say.”

Kevin Harvick loves that the Chase Briscoe, JGR penalty was overturned

Despite Harvick sounding off on the appeals process, he did like that Briscoe and JGR won their appeal. “I love that that they overturned it,” he said. Harvick added that he went through the same thing a few years ago when he was with Stewart-Haas Racing. Briscoe and JGR were penalized for a spoiler issue, and NASCAR hit Kevin Harvick and Stewart-Haas with the same penalty. However, Stewart-Haas decided not to appeal, which might have been a mistake because the team and Harvick would have likely won.

Briscoe and JGR were hit with an L2-level penalty stemming from the Daytona 500. Initially, Briscoe lost 100 driver points and 10 playoff driver points, while JGR was fined $100,000 and lost 100 owner points, as well 10 playoff points. With the penalty overturned, Briscoe and JGR get their points back, and the $100,000 fine was rescinded.
