Highly irritated Richard Childress dresses down team over Austin Dillon radio at Dover

It appears that Richard Childress has caught on to the struggles his teams are having on the track on Sundays. Following the Dover Cup Series race, the NASCAR team owner was not happy on the radio when speaking with either of his drivers.
Richard Childress isn’t disappointed in Austin Dillon and Kyle Busch. Instead, he is disappointed with the cars that RCR is putting on the track each week.
“Way to keep fighting, guys,” Childress said on the No. 3 team’s radio, via Steven Taranto of CBS Sports. “We gotta get some damn race cars. I’ve seen enough out of our drivers and teams, we’ve got to work on this shit. Period.”
Richard Childress also had similar comments on the No. 8 radio for Kyle Busch. While Busch was as high as the top-five at one point, he finished P11 overall.
“Gotta get some race cars,” Childress said on Busch’s radio. “We are in trouble. Period.”
Richard Childress Racing has not won a race since Austin Dillon’s controversial victory at Richmond Raceway last season. Kyle Busch hasn’t won since June of 2023 at Gateway. That is a problem that goes far beyond one or two people at the shop. This is a team issue and something has to change quickly.
Austin Dillon isn’t racing well. Kyle Busch isn’t racing well. It is a week to week issue at every track. I’m afraid that Richard Childress is realizing this problem about four months too late for it to matter.

Can Richard Childress get Kyle Busch to victory lane?
At this point in his career, Kyle Busch should still be winning races and threatening for championships. He is a top, all-time talent in NASCAR. At 40 years old, the drop off should not be as severe as it has been the last two years.
It feels clear to many people who watch that the cars RCR puts on the track are not up to snuff. They can’t handle Busch and his driving style. The troubling thing about this is that Busch has another year to go in the No. 8 car before he becomes a free agent.
Once Tyler Reddick left Richard Childress Racing, things started to fall apart. Busch did get those three wins in 2023. But that playoff run that season was very poor and ever since, it’s been nothing but disappointment.
Kyle Busch has two top-five finishes this season. COTA and Chicago Street. There is not a track on the schedule where RCR has brought the speed they need to compete at the level they expect to compete at. At some point, major changes have to be made to the competition department and possibly on the pit boxes as well, if not throughout the entire shop.
