Wednesday evening, No. 7 seeded Texas takes on No. 10 seeded Kansas State in their respective Big 12 Tournament openers, with the winner advancing to face Iowa State.

The fun began on Tuesday evening with the first round of the tourney and all but the top four seeds will be in action today, including the Wildcats and Longhorns. In the regular season, these two foes met just once in Austin, with Texas holding on in a defensive battle for a 62-56 victory back in February. Now, they’ll meet once more, this time with a bit higher stakes.

Before tip-off, read below the point spreads, predictions and broadcast info for the contest:

Odds for Kansas State vs. Texas

FanDuel line: Texas -4.5 points
FanDuel money-line: Texas (-184), Kansas State (+152)
FanDuel over/under: 142.5 total points

The folks at FanDuel like a Texas win but not by much. After the ‘Horns won by six on their home court against these guys less than a month ago, oddsmakers expect a very similar result, but on a neutral court. Meanwhile, they do expect a few more points this time around with a projected over/under of 142.5, averaging out at roughly 71 points per team.

Final Score Predictions

KenPom final score: Texas 73, Kansas State 69
KenPom win probability: Texas 66%

KenPom also favors Texas by around four points and believes they have a two-thirds chance at taking victory in their opening game of the Big 12 Tournament. Texas currently rates 23rd in the nation per KP’s figures lead by the No. 20 offense. Meanwhile, Kansas State is down at 68th with an offense outside the top-140 but a defense that rates No. 19.

BPI prediction: Texas by 4.3 points
BPI win probability: Texas 66.3%
BPI matchup quality: 85.5 (3rd of the day)

It’s a triple-crown as ESPN’s Basketball Power Index is right in line with FanDuel and KenPom, threading the needle between their four and 4.5-point spreads to make its projected margin of victory 4.3 points for Texas over Kansas State. It also rates the Longhorn-Wildcat matchup as the No. 3 game of the entire day in its Matchup Quality metric. In fact, all four Big 12 Tournament games are in the top six for the day, with Oklahoma-TCU by far and away the No. 1 game per ESPN. However, their main stations won’t broadcast that game and you’ll have to catch it on ESPN+ or the Big 12 Network.

The same is true for this one, too…

It’s Kansas State and Texas in the evening window with NCAA Tournament complications on the line. Texas is pretty firmly in the field by now but Kansas State is pretty firmly outside of it but still has a chance to claw their way to an at-large bid if they can topple the Longhorns and then beat Iowa State in round two, who they just beat at home by 10 to end the year.
