Mere hours after rumors began to swirl online that the Baltimore Ravens had extended rising star tight end Isaiah Likely, Likely was carted back to the locker room near the end of practice on Tuesday.

Likely was hurt during a one on one rep with Ravens safety Sanoussi Kane, per Jeff Zrebiec of The AthleticBaltimore. Following practice, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh told reporters that Likely had rolled his ankle and is expected to miss a few weeks.

The Coastal Carolina alum is heading into his fourth NFL season after being selected by the Ravens with the No. 139 pick in the Fourth Round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He has evolved into a big-time pass catcher for 2x NFL MVP Lamar Jackson, as his yardage and touchdown production has increased every season of his career.

“I want to see [Likely] be an All-Pro,” Harbaugh said back in May. “That’d be my goal for him, and he’s capable of it.”

Likely heading into his final year on rookie contract

Through three campaigns, Likely boasts 108 career receptions for 1,261 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. He poured in the performance of his career in Baltimore’s season-opening loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last season, as he hauled in 111 yards and one touchdown. He would have scored the game-winning touchdown with no time remaining, but his foot landed barely out of bounds.

“I tell everybody I love the Ravens, I love the city,” Likely said following the 2024 season. “You all brought me in and made me feel like I’m part of a family from my rookie year until now. Everybody’s dream is to get extended but I just keep one foot in front of the other. I try to stay in the moment, stay where my feet are and really just play and have fun and let the plays happen. And then whatever happens, I let God take care of that.”

If the rumors are true about Likely receiving an extension, it would likely land somewhere in the ballpark of Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson‘s recent four-year, $52 million extension. The Coastal Carolina alum will head into the upcoming season on the final season of his rookie contract, making $3,406,000. In his first three seasons, Likely made a combined $3,640,246.

Baltimore opens play in the preseason on Aug. 7 against the Indianapolis Colts, although it is now unlikely that Likely will suit up for that one. The Ravens’ regular season opener is scheduled for Sept. 7 against the Buffalo Bills.
