The Jaguars will have their starting quarterback under center for Thursday night’s game against the Saints. Per Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network, head coach Doug Pederson said Trevor Lawrence would start for Jacksonville.

Lawrence tweaked his left knee in last Sunday’s victory over the Colts. The quarterback was questionable for this week’s game against New Orleans because of the short turnaround.

Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET on Amazon Prime Video.

“Lawrence just finished his 20-minute pregame workout where he showed good lateral movement making cuts and throwing on the run,” Wolfe reported. “He dapped up trainers + QB Mike McCoy with smile head back into locker room.”

Lawrence threw for 181 yards with two touchdowns and an interception while completing 20-of-30 passes in a 37-20 victory over Indianapolis. He also accounted for 15 rushing yards.

After Tuesday’s practice, Lawrence expressed optimism that he would be back to run the Jags offense.

“I’m going to do everything I can to be out there,” Lawrence said. “I feel a lot better today than I would have thought, so I like how I’m progressing.”

Saints prepared for Lawrence, anyway

The New Orleans defense wasn’t taking any chances for Thursday night’s game. The Saints prepared for the Week 7 showdown as if Lawrence would be taking the snaps, though his status was up in the air.

“We’re preparing for (Trevor Lawrence), I can promise you that,” Saints defensive coordinator Joe Woods told reporters.

“He’s very good; he has all the skills, the arm strength to make all the throws. You can see him process, he’s getting them into the right plays at the line of scrimmage, and he has all types of weapons at every skill position. They’re a well-oiled machine.”

Lawrence has played well through the first six games of the season for Jacksonville. He’s thrown for 1,439 yards with seven touchdowns and just three interceptions while completing 67.1% of his passes. The quarterback has also helped the Jaguars to a 4-2 record.

Jacksonville also has three very reliable targets in the passing attack this season. Receiver Christian Kirk leads the way with 384 yards and a pair of touchdown grabs while Calvin Ridley has totaled 363 yards and an additional two scores. Evan Engram has put up 301 yards.

On the ground, the Jags have relied heavily on the legs of Travis Etienne Jr., who has rushed for 451 yards and four touchdowns.
