Jayden Daniels injury update: Dan Quinn reveals Commanders QB status ahead of Seahawks game

Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn shared a big injury update on quarterback Jayden Daniels. While speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Quinn said Daniels will be a full participant at practice all week, meaning he will likely play when the Commanders take on the Seattle Seahawks Sunday night.
Jayden Daniels missed Monday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs because of a hamstring injury. He has also missed another two games this season due to a knee injury. In five games this year, Daniels has completed 61 percent of his passes for 1,031 yards with eight touchdowns and one interception. He has also rushed for 211 yards and one TD on 44 carries.
Marcus Mariota has filled in for Daniels this year. Ahead of the Monday night game, Mariota spoke to reporters about what Daniels is like when he’s not on the field.
“Great support system man, he just as much involved if as if you were playing. And I truly appreciate that about him,” Mariota said, per the Commanders’ official website. “Whether he’s talking about things that he’s seen on tape or whether he’s getting a tidbit here and there from guys.

Marcus Mariota shares interesting thoughts on Jayden Daniels
“Maybe he’s reached out to like all the information that he gathers during the course of a week; he shares with us whether he’s playing or not. And I appreciate that about him. I think that’s what makes him different than a lot of people is his ability just to stay engaged whether he is playing or not.”
Mariota was also asked about Daniels being able to handle the pressures of being a franchise QB. “I wanted to be able to provide Jay with just, ‘Hey man, I’ve been there before. I understand the frustration,'” he said. “And sometimes it’s not even just talking, it’s just like, bro, I’ll sit here all day with you in the locker room and just kind of be there and be a presence for him. So, at the end of the day, it is tough when you are brought in to be that guy.
Daniels emerged as a star quarterback after his memorable rookie season in 2024. He completed 69 percent of his passes for 3,568 yards with 25 touchdowns and just nine interceptions. Daniels also rushed for 891 yards and six touchdowns and helped the Commanders get to the NFC Championship game.
