Jayden Daniels injury update: Early indications are nothing serious on Washington QB, per report

An NFL insider just shared an encouraging update on Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, who suffered a hamstring injury in the game against the Dallas Cowboys. On NBC’s Football Night in America, Mike Florio revealed that Daniels’ hamstring injury is “nothing serious.”
“I’m told, at least for now, the early indications are nothing serious, but this is something we will surely be monitoring,” Florio said. “It’s Marcus Mariota as the replacement for Daniels, if Daniels can’t go.”
Jayden Daniels suffered the injury early in the third quarter when Cowboys linebacker Shemar James tackled him. As Daniels was tackled, he lost the ball and hurt his hamstring. Daniels limped off the field and was evaluated in the medical tent before heading to the locker room.
Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said Daniels wanted to return to the game after he was evaluated. Quinn told reporters that Daniels will have an MRI on his hamstring on Monday.
Jayden Daniels has already missed two games this season
Before leaving Sunday’s game, Daniels completed 12-of-22 passes for 156 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for 35 and one touchdown on eight carries. Mariota took over at quarterback and finished 4-of-10 passing for 63 yards and one interception.

Daniels has already missed two games this season because of a sprained left knee. The 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year has been efficient this year, completing 61 percent of his passes for 1,031 yards, eight touchdowns, and one interception in five games.
In 2024, the Commanders reached the NFC Championship game largely because of Daniels. If he misses more time due to the injured hamstring, the team could be in danger of missing the playoffs.
In September, Daniels talked about how he didn’t like it when people brought up what he did last season. “Last year was last year,” he said, per ESPN. “I don’t like when people talk about it to me and ask me about it because it don’t mean anything to me. I don’t say I get irritated about it, but kind of just moving on to the present, trying to focus on getting better so I could be better for this year.”
