Jayden Daniels, Terry McLaurin injury updates: Friday practice status revealed for two Commanders stars

Two cornerstones of the Washington Commander offense were not on the field for the start of practice on Friday.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels (knee) and wide receiver Terry McLaurin (quad) were not present, putting their status’ in jeopardy for this weekend’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. Daniels missed last weekend’s game with the injury, which led to veteran backup Marcus Mariota making the start. McLaurin hauled in three passes for 74 yards prior to his injury.
ESPN‘s Adam Schefter provided the latest on McLaurin’s status on ‘Get Up‘ on Thursday morning. Dealing with a quad issue coming out of Week 3 and having yet to practice so far this week, Schefter said Washington could be trending toward McLaurin being out against the Falcons ion Sunday.
“In that same game, the Commanders look like they very well could be without Terry McLaurin, who suffered a quad injury on Sunday against the Raiders. Left the game, has been undergoing additional testing on that quad,” Schefter said. “Did not practice on Wednesday. If he doesn’t practice again today, that would tell you that this is certainly trending in a direction in which the Commanders are unlikely to have Terry McLaurin on Sunday.”
Among several names on Wednesday’s injury report for Washington was McLaurin, who did not practice. Jayden Daniels was also limited, dealing with a knee injury after missing last week’s win over Las Vegas, with Marcus Mariota playing in his place. Jacory Croskey-Merritt, the team’s leading rusher, was also listed and did not practice with a knee issue.

Even with Mariota throwing him the ball rather than Daniels, McLaurin had one of his better games this season in the victory over the Raiders. He posted three receptions for 74 yards, averaging nearly 25 yards per catch. That brings him to 10 catches for 149 yards on the season for the Commanders.
Jayden Daniels is dealing with sprained knee that he suffered in Week 2
“Back at practice yesterday in a limited fashion,” Schefter continued on ‘Get Up‘ about Jayden Daniels. “He said his knee feels better, but it will be a doctor’s decision about whether or not he plays on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. He’s leaving it in the hands of others. We’ll see what they say.”
“If he can’t go, Marcus Mariota would play again. And Marcus Mariota played very well on Sunday in the Commanders’ victory over the Raiders.”
Daniels underwent an MRI on his knee following Washington’s loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night of Week 2. Ultimately, it turned out that he had a sprained knee. There had been some hope that he wouldn’t miss time at all, but that didn’t happen with the team choosing to play it safe. Now, his status continues to be up in the air.
