How time flies. Jeff Gordon and his family recently celebrated as his daughter, Ella, read her acceptance letter for the University of Michigan. While the Hendrick Motorsports Chairman couldn’t be there in person, he made sure he was part of the big reveal.

For NASCAR fans who have followed Jeff Gordon throughout his career, warning – you’re about to feel old. Ella Gordon is now old enough to be applying to colleges. It appears that she is going to be a Michigan Wolverine.

Ella’s mom, Ingrid Vandebosch, was excited, and so was her brother Benjamin. What a moment for the Gordon family. Will we see a Wolverine paint scheme from Hendrick Motorsports?

Jeff Gordon is a very busy man. He has helped build Hendrick Motorsports into what it is. First, as a driver, and now as the Vice Chairman. The impact that he has left on not just Hendrick but NASCAR is unmatched.

For fans who have kept up with Gordon for his entire career, this might be a big moment, too. The passing of time can often happen quietly and without notice. Then, one day, you’re watching someone you remember being born, and read their acceptance letter to college. It’s a reminder of how much has changed and perhaps, a reminder of how long it’s been since the “good old days.”

A lot of reactions online with fans expressing how old they feel. A lot of congratulations. Jeff Gordon and family will be saying “Go Blue!” for the next four years or so.

Jeff Gordon hoping for another championship season

If you’re Jeff Gordon, life is pretty good right now. Hendrick Motorsports had two drivers in the Championship 4, and walked away with a championship with Kyle Larson in the Cup Series.

A really great season from all four teams, largely. Alex Bowman and the 48 didn’t win a race. However, the other three teams won multiple races. Larson, William Byron, and Chase Elliott are elite drivers, and all three put up great stats in the 2025 season.

Gordon might not be the mega superstar he was in his prime. Still, he is one of the most important figures in NASCAR. His presence at the track, in the media room, on a pit box, and anywhere else is always noted. When he walks in the room, people pay attention.

Right now, Jeff Gordon has Kyle Larson, a California kid like himself. He also has this kid, Corey Day, signed to a development deal. Day is also a California kid who grew up slinging dirt and has beaten the best of the best in sprint car racing. A couple of heirs to Gordon’s throne, perhaps? There’s something about those California dirt racers when they get to NASCAR…
