Jerry Jones admits he loves eating raccoon, squirrel brain

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas, and his southern upbringing apparently brought along an interesting appetite.
Raccoon and squirrel meat, delicacies in The South, are among Jones’ favorite foods, he said during a Tuesday appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. Jones revealed he even enjoys the squirrel’s brain.
“I’ve eaten a lot of raccoon,” Jones said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “The answer is yes. … It’s not uncommon at all. One of my favorites is squirrel. It’s wonderful. We all had our favorite pieces. … My mom and I would even ask for the brain of the squirrel. Delicious. Seriously.”
If you’re wondering how this unusual topic came up, Carolina Panthers receiver Xavier Legette recently admitted to hunting, cooking and eating raccoon. Jones was asked about it, and gave an honest answer.
“Like a raccoon you see in the trash can, I hunt it. I kill it. I skin ’em. Cook ’em. Eat ’em. All that,” Legette said on the “St. Brown Podcast.”

Micah Parsons trade rumors: Jerry Jones makes revealing statement on future of Cowboys star
Jones’ food preferences aside, the 82-year-old did discuss some more serious topics, such as the future of linebacker Micah Parsons in a Cowboys uniform. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported this past Sunday that Dallas hasn’t ruled out the possibility of trading the two-time All-Pro selection in Parsons. Jones responded Tuesday, saying “that’s never been uttered in this organization that we don’t have a future with Micah Parsons.”
Parsons’ next deal is expected to make him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history. Parsons hopes it comes from Dallas.
“I understand how that business side goes,” Parsons said after Sunday’s win over the Panthers. “There are no hard feelings in this business, whether I’m here or anywhere else. Obviously, I’ve stated that I want to be here. But at the end of the day, I understand the business side. I’ve put in a lot of work, I’ve played hard too, so obviously if sides can’t agree to those type of things, it happens like that.
“But I’m just happy to be here. I’m just gonna keep playing hard while I’m here. If I’m here for the next five to six years, I’m gonna keep playing hard then too. Ain’t nothing really gonna make a difference, Micah is gonna play hard.”
