Jerry Jones doubles down on Micah Parsons trade, claims it will help Dak Prescott win a Super Bowl

Two weeks after the blockbuster trade, which sent All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers, was agreed upon, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones continues to double down on the trade being in his team’s favor. What else could you expect?
During an interview with 105.3 The FAN on Friday, Jones revealed that he believed that the trade was in the Cowboys’ best interest. He felt that because he sees it as the move to best get Dallas and quarterback Dak Prescott getting his elusive Super Bowl ring.
“This was the best way to maximize our chance to get a Super Bowl for Dak,” Jones said. The quote was via The Athletic‘s Jon Machota.
Dallas did acquire three-time Pro Bowl DT Kenny Clark in the deal. However, it will be hard for him to measure anywhere close to the production that Parsons gave the Cowboys franchise for the first four years of his NFL career. In his Cowboy debut against Philadelphia, Clark recorded two tackles.
Parsons is already wreaking havoc in Green Bay, as he’s recorded three tackles, one TFL and 1.5 sacks in two games with the Packers. Dallas, on the other han,d opened the season with a 24-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Michael Irvin thought trade moved Dallas in opposite direction
“This is a gamble that they should not have taken in my personal opinion,” Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Irvin said on his YouTube channel in the aftermath of the trade. “The last personal thing with Jerry (Jones) was between him and Jimmy (Johnson). That got in the way of a Super Bowl that year. There’s a good chance this personal thing, this time, Micah and his agent has a good opportunity to get in the way of what I thought was a Super Bowl opportunity.”
“You add the offensive weapons to put points on the board in George Pickens. Now, you’re going to need a pass-rusher to get to the quarterback because they’ll have to catch up because you let Micah Parsons go.”
Roping Dak into one of the reasons why Jerry and the front office made the trade is certainly an odd one, as all the move did was remove a three-time All-Pro from Dallas’ defense. Prescott has been the Cowboys’ starting quarterback since 2016, where he’s passed for 31,625 yards, 213 touchdowns and 82 interceptions.
With Prescott as their quarterback, however, the Cowboys have made the postseason just five times but have not advanced past the Divisional Round. Dallas looks to change that this year.
