Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is not concerned with getting a contract extension done with wide receiver George Pickens right now. During his appearance on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday, Jones gave an update on Pickens’ future with the team since he’s in the final year of his rookie contract.

“Listen, there’s nothing that we can do – I know it’s fun – there’s nothing we can gain from speculating and conjecture,” Jerry Jones said, per Todd Archer of ESPN. “The bottom line is we’re in good shape.”

Before Jones made those comments, he said that he doesn’t see George Pickens anywhere else but the Cowboys in 2026. “At this time we’ve got two No. 1 receivers, and that’s just exceptional right at the time when – guess what – our quarterback is probably the best he’s ever been and there’s more there,” Jones stated.

Pickens played his first three seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and was traded to the Cowboys in May. Through 11 games this season, Pickens has caught 67 passes for 1,054 yards and eight touchdowns. This is the second time in his young career that he has recorded at least 1,000 receiving yards.

CeeDee Lamb wants George Pickens back with the Cowboys next year

Last week, Pickens talked about being back with the team next year. “I’d love to be back with bro, especially [CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott], all the guys really,” Pickens said, per Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com.

Cowboys players have have said they would love to have Pickens back, especially Lamb, who has been Pickens’ partner-in-crime all season. “All that we can control on is what we do, how comfortable we make him, and I mean, have him make an easier pitch as to wanting to be here,” Lamb said. “Us as teammates, we understand the situation, especially being that we’ve come from it recently. Some maybe once or twice. That’s a conversation that he’s got to have with his agent.”

“I have the most confidence that we’re going to keep him, and I’m sure that he wants to be here with how much fun he’s having and everything he’s accomplishing on the field. So for us as his teammates, I feel like it’s pretty clear: We want GP back.”

Pickens and the Cowboys are working hard to finish the season strong and reach the playoffs. They are currently 5-5-1 and in 10th place in the NFC standings with six games remaining.
