Who’s the greatest Dallas Cowboys player of all time? Jerry Jones answered that very question during a radio hit on 105.3 The FAN on Friday.

According to Jones, quarterback Roger Staubach is his pick. Jones cited the two-time Super Bowl champion’s impact on the franchise, both on and off the field, as the reason why, per Joseph Hoyt of the Dallas Morning News.

There aren’t many fans who will argue Jones’ selection. While players like Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin and Bob Lily have a case, Staubach helped transform the franchise. That much isn’t lost on their owner.

In his career, Staubach led Dallas to two Super Bowl wins, while passing for 22,700 yards, 153 touchdowns and being elected to both the Pro Football and College Football Hall of Fame. The 83-year-old has remained an icon for the Cowboys.

Moving forward, Cowboys fans are hoping maybe Dak Prescott or another current Dallas star can contend with Staubach’s title. That part remains to be seen, but Jones is giving them every shot to get there.

One player who won’t contend for Staubach’s greatness in Dallas is Micah Parsons. He had a chance, but Jones decided to ship him to Green Bay earlier this offseason.

After the Packers win on Thursday Night Football, Parsons was recorded bouncing his head along to a “Thank you, Jerry” chant by a crowd of fans. The clip of the Packers fans publicly thanking Jones for making the move made its way to Dallas, and the 82-year-old owner responded during his radio appearance.

“The way Green Bay is playing I’m all for them chanting anything they want to,” Jones said Friday on 105.3 The Fan, according to the Dallas News Joseph Hoyt. “I knew this was coming … if I got to make this trade, this was coming.”

Parsons had two tackles for the Packers in Thursday’s victory and was also in on a sack of Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels. It came on the heels of a huge showing in his Green Bay debut when he had a sack in somewhat limited action, given the quick turnaround following his trade from the Cowboys.

Jones isn’t naive at least. He recognizes that he’ll be brought up every time Parsons shows out for the Packers moving forward. Regardless, the Cowboys owner is focused on his own team in Dallas, and hoping they come through for him in Week 2 against the Giants.
