Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones gave an update on the potential trade he made after the team lost to the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night. Reporters asked Jones if the trade was still in place despite the loss.

“We still can, yes,” Jerry Jones said. “…We’ll see how tomorrow goes. Today was all about tomorrow. You shouldn’t do anything. You should wait and see what we do tomorrow.”

Before the game, Jones talked about having a trade already in place. But with the team currently sitting with a 3-5-1 record, it’s hard to see them add a veteran player since their hopes of reaching the playoffs are fading away.

But they are not mathematically out of anything, and Jones likely believes they are a big move away from turning things around. What makes this all interesting is that Jones won’t reveal who they have traded for, leading to some speculation about the trade happening.

“I don’t know what that move is, I don’t know who it might be,” Troy Aikman said on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown. “I think it’s interesting that you announce there’s a trade, but you’re not going to announce who it is. What do they have to give up, and what exactly does that look like? I guess we will all be evaluating that tomorrow sometime.”

Does Jerry Jones need to make a trade?

If the Cowboys make a trade, it will likely be for a pass rusher since they traded Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers before the start of the season. A big reason Dallas has struggled this season is the lack of production on the defensive side of the ball. Entering Monday’s game, the Cowboys ranked near the bottom of the NFL in total defense, rushing defense, and scoring defense.

Last week, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott was asked about the team making a trade to help them go on a run. “It definitely can help. I’m not going to shy away from saying that, but I will go back to what I said after the last game: I just encourage the guys in the locker room to do whatever they can in this time to shut that talk up.” Prescott said, per Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com.

The Cowboys are off next weekend and will return to action on Monday, Nov. 17, when they take on the Las Vegas Raiders. They will be tested in a big way after the Raiders game, as they face the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and the defending AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs
