Jerry Jones reacts to Cowboys loss after Amani Oruwariye punt block sequence

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones spoke out after the team suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football. While speaking to reporters, Jones reacted to the last two minutes of the game that ultimately cost the Cowboys a much-needed win.
“Really devastated by the turn of events of the blocked kick,” Jones said, per Pat Doney of NBCDFW. “Obviously, we had a blocked kick called, made the play and then had one and so many odds turned against us. We all would say ‘Why block the kick? Just take the kick and give them a field goal to kick it.’ We’ll all be second-guessing that.”
“So proud of the way the guys hung in there all day. Their quarterback (Joe Burrow) is outstanding. I thought we did some really good things out there.”
The Cowboys and Bengals were tied at 20 with 2:08 remaining in the game. Dallas forced a punt which was blocked, but Cowboys cornerback Amani Oruwariye muffed the return. The Bengals recovered and scored the go-ahead touchdown with 1:09 remaining.

Jerry Jones shares more on Amani Oruwariye
“I don’t know if we say anything to him,” Jerry Jones said about Oruwariye. “We made the mistakes out there. That mistake we made at the end, it was very impactful.”
Oruwariye, 28, signed with the Cowboys in August and has played in five games this year. As tough as that mistake was for the former Penn State star, he also made a big play for Dallas earlier this year, getting his first interception of the season in the team’s victory over the New York Giants in September.
“Oh, I knew I was going to get targeted,” Oruwariye said at the time, per DallasCowboys.com. “If they have (Trevon) Diggs on the other side, I knew I was going to get my fair share of work. Like I said, I was trying to get myself mentally ready and kind of knock off the rust, which I felt like I did. And then I got in my groove, felt comfortable out there and went on from there.”
