The Dallas Cowboys are chasing the Philadelphia Eagles for the top spot in the NFC East. While Dallas slipped up this past Thursday, losing 44-30 to the Detroit Lions, they remain alive with four games to go in the 2025 regular season.

Philadelphia had a chance to take advantage of Dallas’ loss on Thursday Night Football, but they failed to do it. The Eagles dropped their third consecutive game Monday night, a 22-19 overtime defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Can the Cowboys overcome a 1.5-game deficit to win the division and get into the playoffs? Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones believes they can.

“Real excited. They didn’t even need to put any fuel in the plane. I flew up here on my own,” Jones said Tuesday from New York City during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan. “We sure got a shot at this thing.”

Cowboys still believe they can win NFC East

The Cowboys were rolling before Detroit. They defeated the Las Vegas Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs in back-to-back-to-back weeks.

While Week 14 was a letdown, it was arguably their toughest remaining test of the regular season. The schedule is manageable down the stretch: home vs. Minnesota Vikings, home vs. Chargers, road vs. Washington Commanders, road vs. New York Giants.

The Eagles, however, have two games remaining against the 3-10 Commanders and face the 2-11 Raiders this Sunday. Their toughest remaining game comes in Week 17 on the road against the Buffalo Bills. Philadelphia has a 93% chance of making the playoffs. Dallas has just a 10% chance.

“At this point, I don’t know if I can say we control our own destiny,” quarterback Dak Prescott said last week. “I know it was not a stretch saying that before, but I’m pretty sure if we won out, we were going to have a pretty damn good record only having five losses and one tie… we’re going to need some things to happen for us, I don’t think it’s in our control at this point. But what we can do is control the way that we approach this game.”
