Jerry Jones torches radio hosts: 'If they knew what they were talking about, I might have had a different answer'

Less than 48 hours after watching a historic loss to the Detroit Lions, Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones was back in the headlines. Not for good reasons either, snapping at hosts during a Tuesday morning radio interview on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. Jones did not appreciate a question and ripped into them before saying he would find somebody else to do their job.
Later in the day, Jones was at the 2024 NFL League Meetings and spoke to Dianna Russini on the incident, still not happy with how things unfolded. He believes radio hosts are not who should be posing those types of questions, instead pointing to fans or “people that knew what they are talking about” in the football world.
“I don’t know that I would go as far as (calling) the volume connotation as yelling,” Jerry Jones said via The Athletic. “OK? But the facts are that if I’m going to be grilled by the tribunal, I don’t need it to be by the guys I’m paying. I can take it from fans and take it from other people. I take a lot of pride in how fair and how much I try to work with the media, we’re brothers and sisters. But I was a little frustrated there today.
“…The wrong ones were doing the questioning. Now, if those had been real fans sitting there or if there had been people that knew what they were talking about, football people, I might have had a different answer.”

Jones refers to the radio hosts as “guys I’m paying” as 105.3 The Fan is the official radio home of the Dallas Cowboys. Every game is broadcasted on their airwaves as are Mike McCarthy press conferences and other special shows. However, it’s not an official media outlet of the franchise, as they are owned by Audacy Inc.
Now, this is the biggest headline surrounding the Cowboys at the moment despite the loss to the Lions on Sunday. Having a bye week certainly does not help either as Dallas will not play until Oct. 27 against the San Francisco 49ers.
