Already with two career wins in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and a ton of potential, Jesse Love could make his Cup Series debut soon. However, nothing has been made official by Love or Richard Childress Racing.

Jesse Love very well could be the future of the RCR program. Kyle Busch is getting up there in age, and Austin Dillon may decide to take a role in the front office soon. There is always the potential for RCR to land a third charter in the near future.

So, talking about Cup Series starts right now isn’t out of the question. Austin Hill has made starts with RCR and the closely affiliated Beard Motorsports program.

During a media availability at Phoenix, Jesse Love was asked about making his Cup debut. Lee Spencer of SiriusXM NASCAR Radio and Catchfence asked him if RCR had told him about where and when it would be.

“I forgot what they told me to say when people ask me this,” Love said, causing laughs in the media center. “Well, I’m glad you think I’m ready. That’s a compliment I’m very flattered but absolutely. Me and Connor [Zilisch] talked about where we’d want to one day make our Cup starts and stuff like that and more Cup races. Obviously, I want to go to places that I’m good at, but I also know that I have to go to places where I need to learn stuff, too.”

There is a lot that Jesse Love has to consider when making his first Cup Series start. There are pros and cons to whatever decision he and RCR ultimately make.

Jesse Love on the ‘tradeoff’ of making Cup Series starts

You can’t say that Love isn’t mature for 20 years old. He came up through the ranks quickly and was an ARCA West champion at only 15 years old. Love won a couple of those before winning an ARCA national series championship.

Of course, he made the move from Toyota to Chevy, Joe Gibbs to RCR. So, despite his age, Love knows there are tradeoffs to every decision.

“Where I’m not a Martinsville fan, and this is no correlation of making a Cup start there, but Martinsville is a place that I struggle at,” Love explained. “So, it’s a tradeoff where I can go there and learn a lot but I can also go there and not run that good my first time there. I think for me, I’m more of a guy that I want to go to a place that I’m rather good at and I have some laps at and I can unload and have some sort of knowledge of what I’m getting myself into. But obviously, that’s up to RCR’s decision and I will just go where I’m told.”

Connor Zilisch and Jesse Love are two of NASCAR’s most talented young prospects. They should both be racing on Sundays in the near future going door to door for wins. While Zililsch gets a lot of the media hype, Love has been doing the work.

Of course, the two drivers are also great friends off the track. There are a lot of fun friendships and relationships between this new generation coming up. That is sure to produce great competition and racing as they age and begin to race for championships.
