Jesse Love suffers mechanical failure on Lap 2 of Super2 Series debut in Adelaide
A tough go of things for Jesse Love in the Super2 Series in Adelaide. His Australian Supercars debut didn’t go as planned. A mechanical failure took Love out of the race on Lap 2 and onto pit road. He would eventually make it back on track, but too late.
In Supercars, if a driver fails to make a certain number of laps, they are listed as “NC” or Not Classified. Unfortunately for Jesse Love, his seven laps completed were not enough to register a result. Essentially, a DNF. Four drivers in total had NC results.
According to the race recap from Zac Dowdell at Supercars.com, the issue was not of Love’s doing. Kelly Racing driver Cameron McLeod blew out a front shock absorber to take him out of the 40-minute race after only a few minutes. Love suffered “an identical issue.”
Cody Gillis was out of the race on Lap 5 when he hit the inside of Turn 8. His Commodore was rendered useless after hitting the outside wall afterward. Max Geogheagan was the other NC. He hit the Turn 8 wall as well on the first lap. Then he got into the wall at Turn 7 on Lap 3. His race was over at that point.
Rylan Gray won the race and the Super2 championship. He is a talented teen who clearly has a bright future in racing. One more race remains on the schedule this weekend before everything comes to an end for Supercars and Super2 this year.

Jesse Love, Austin Cindric have disappoining races
Since Jesse Love barely made any laps, it might be a disappointing result. But the experience here for Love in invaluable, which he has mentioned since getting to Australia. His fellow American and NASCAR driver, Austin Cindric, had a similarly disappointing result.
During the Supercars race, Cindric found himself getting lapped by the leaders for the second time. Even so, he had received nothing but praise from his fellow competitors and peers this weekend, leading up to the race. Even down a couple of laps, he appeared to be doing well, more or less. Then the whirlwind that was Chaz Mostert got up to him.
Mostert is in a heated championship battle with Broc Feeney. As Feeney was racing off to win the race, Mostert was trying to close the gap as much as possible in order to make it a close championship battle going into Sunday. Well, Mostert had an eventful last few laps. He first tagged Cindric on the left side. Cindric then hit a tire barrier and found himself on pit road getting repairs. He finished 7 laps down in P23.
Jesse Love and Austin Cindric are both Xfinity Series champions. Cindric is a Daytona 500 winner and a Cup driver for Team Penske. Love has already made Cup starts as a young driver. Even they are struggling to keep pace with these Supercars drivers. It is a huge challenge to go somewhere else and compete in a different series. Even when the cars may seem so similar.
