Talladega and a Richard Childress Racing driver on the pole. Jesse Love showed what those ECR engines can do. The NASCAR Xfinity Series driver has won at Daytona and Talladega in the past. Can he add another win to his record and advance to Phoenix and the Championship 4?

RCR is known for their superspeedway packages. It is no surprise to see Jesse Love out front in qualifying. In fact, it should be expected at this point. When I saw Christian Eckes jump to the top of the board, I wasn’t sure the 2 could get it done. Love proved me wrong, quickly.

A win today makes Martinsville a lot simpler for any of the playoff drivers in the field. No one is locked into Phoenix right now, but Connor Zilisch is close enough on points. Love out front, can he control this race and get another drafting track win?

JR Motorsports is going to be right there once again. They always have fast cars, wherever the race is. The JGR cars were not as quick as they likely would have wanted. This is going to be a very chaotic and wild race. Drivers have so much to race for, from playoffs to first wins of the season or even in a driver’s career.

If the Truck Series race showed us anything, it’s that the standings can change rapidly. One or two wrecks and a driver can go from above the cutline to below it.

Sheldon Creed is the worst among the playoff drivers in qualifying. He will start P16. This is also the first week we see Connor Mosack replace Matt DiBenedetto in the 99 Viking Motorsports car. Full qualifying results below:

Jesse Love can seize the moment at Talladega

This race is going to come down to a wild restart at the end or a great green flag run. Either way, we know the field will be racing within inches of each other and there will surely be a desperation move made in the last half mile of the track.

I think that Jesse Love, Christian Eckes, and Austin Hill are going to try to hook up as soon as possible. That RCR/Kaulig connection is going to benefit that trio early in this race, and throughout the race if they can control the pace and make their pit stops on time.

While I know Love hates to be considered a superspeedway racer, and he is more than that despite what his win record says, but he has to take advantage of this race. He’s going to be in a great position to score early stage points and give himself more of a cushion on the cutline.

Even if Love isn’t able to win, he has a chance to score enough points to make Martinsville comfortable. At least as comfortable as it can get without being locked into Phoenix.

Jesse Love knows how to win these races, he’s done it in before. Can he show up again on the superspeedway and put that No. 2 car in Victory Lane?
