Stephen A. Smith began his Monday doing his ESPN show, “First Take,” from Texas Live! He’s ending his Monday at AT&T Stadium, and Jerry Jones made sure to accommodate him well.

The Cowboys owner/general manager had Smith as a guest in his luxury box for their Week 9 game against the Arizona Cardinals. But after Dallas went down 10-0 early in the second quarter, Smith decided he’d seen enough — at least from where he was sitting, next to Jones.

ESPN‘s camera crew caught the moment Smith stood up, shook the hand of Jones and left the box. Monday Night Football play-by-play announcer Joe Buck had some fun with it on the broadcast.

“They say a picture is worth one billion words,” Buck said. “There it is… Stephen A. is like, ‘Alright, good luck. I’m outta here. I’m gonna go post on social media.'”

Smith, of course, has become known for his public trolling of the Cowboys’ fanbase, though he’s always said he is a fan of Jones. Just before the season, Smith interviewed Jones before the latter traded linebacker Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.

Jerry Jones elaborates on his claim that Cowboys made trade ahead of MNF vs. Cardinals

The two chatted again Monday on SiriusXM Radio. Jones revealed that the Cowboys have made a trade and hinted at additional moves ahead of Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET trade deadline.

“A lot of action going on right now in terms of trading,” Jones said. “We certainly have made a trade, and we may make a couple more trades before that deadline. We’ve made one. We possibly could make two more, and I’m going to wait and let you read about that when we send the papers in tomorrow.”

Scott Van Pelt of ESPN asked Jones about his previous comments during “Monday Night Countdown” ahead of the Cowboys’ Week 9 home game against the Arizona Cardinals. Jones offered another tease.

“Well, I hope you will appreciate that since the deadline is tomorrow, the details are tomorrow,” Jones said. “… The idea is are we busy thinking about it or am I sitting up here thinking about the oil and gas or am I trying to build a team? That’s trying to get our defense ready to go. I’ve taken a little kidding about some of my comments recently about our oil and gas business.

“But seriously, this is the time when we have a chance to help the Cowboys. Any time that I can do that, we burn the midnight oil and there’s a good chance we’ll have some things to talk about tomorrow.”
