Joe Burrow has a plan for the NFL schedule if the teams were to play 18 regular season games. On the latest episode of Pardon My Take, the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback was asked what his ideal NFL schedule would be.

“Gotta have two bye weeks,” Burrow said. “And I think it’d be cool to do a normal bye-week schedule that is now, have it spread out. But then Week 13 do the Pro Bowl break where you’re doing the seven-on-seven and all the skills challenges like the NBA does because I think that would get more ratings for the Pro Bowl, and then it would also give everybody that bye week going into like last six games of the year.”

The NFL is the only major professional sports league in North America that has its all-star weekend at the end of the season. Having it during the year could boost ratings and could be a legitimate option if the NFL adds an 18th game.

But are other players up for adding another game to the schedule? “I think it’s up to every player to decide,” Indianapolis Colts center Ryan Kelly told ESPN. “If they said, ‘Hey, you guys get 70% of revenue and we’ll take 30 as owners,’ a lot of guys would sign up for that if you make $100 million playing quarterback [the current revenue split is approximately 52% to 48% in favor of owners]. So I think everybody’s got a line they draw in the sand, and we’ll see where that is.”

Joe Burrow is ready make big improvement in 2024

As of now, the NFL is sticking with 17 games, and Burrow is ready to lead the Bengals to a Super Bowl after playing just 10 games last year due to a wrist injury. Burrow led the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance during the 2021 season and was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2022.

In an interview with Complex Sports, Burrow was asked what does improvement look like for him this upcoming season. “Well, number one, I want to be on the field for all the games,” the former LSU star said. “I know I’m going to play well when I’m out there. I’m at that point in my career where I’ve seen enough ball and I know myself that I can go out there and play as well as anybody in the game. The biggest strides this year are going to be my body and learning how to get through the season, get through practices with my body, feeling tip, top shape.”
