Joe Burrow injury update: Zac Taylor updates Bengals QB's status for Patriots game

Joe Burrow has been out for the past two months for the Cincinnati Bengals. But, being back from a procedure on a case of turf toe he was dealing with coming out of Week 2, Burrow could still possibly return from injured reserve and play on Sunday in Week 12.
Bengals coach Zac Taylor stated on Friday that Burrow has not yet been ruled out for Cincinnati for this weekend’s game against the New England Patriots. The Bengals want to wait “as long as we can with this decision,” according to their head coach, with a little less than two days now until kickoff at Paycor Stadium against the team that currently is in a tie for the best record in the NFL.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network has since added to that reporting. He noted that Cincinnati has until tomorrow evening to move him to the active roster, with a few more days left into next week for him to actually come off injured reserve during a window of 21 days. However, as noted by Rapoport and Nick Shook at NFL.com, an activation still doesn’t guarantee an appearance for Burrow on Sunday.
“The #Bengals have until Saturday at 4 pm to move Joe Burrow to the active roster,” Rapoport posted this afternoon. “Until then, he’ll be listed as questionable.”

“Judging from the comments from #Bengals coach Zac Taylor, and the caution he expressed, it feels like the pendulum has swung back to Joe Flacco — with Joe Burrow making great progress, regardless,” Rapoport added.
Burrow has been sidelined since exiting with the injury of turf toe in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Bengals have lost seven of eight since then, now sitting at 3-7 overall. While he was thought to be lost for the season, though, he returned to practice at the start of last week and has been trending toward a potential return this season that could come as soon as Sunday.
Cincinnati sounds like it will be keeping this one close going into the weekend, with Saturday’s possible activation being one thing worth noting before he may take the field on Sunday. Still, just the chance at an in-season return by Burrow would be big at this point for the Bengals.
