Brock Bowers has long been the best tight end prospect for whenever he decided to enter the NFL Draft. However, as of late, some mocks have had him sliding in the first round and Joel Klatt simply can’t understand why based on how he weighs his value.

Klatt named Bowers as his No. 2 pass-catcher in this draft during an episode of his show on Monday. He feels like his worth is through the roof considering how great he is and how championship-level teams utilize players like him.

“Brock Bowers impacts the game every time he’s on the field – whether it’s third down, whether it’s red zone. This guy is an impact player,” said Klatt. “He’s fast, he’s a matchup nightmare and he plays a position that is highly valuable.”

“This is one of the best college tight ends that I’ve seen in a long time,” Klatt continued. “He’s 6’4, 240 pounds. He’s physical, he’s fast, he catches the ball beautifully and smooth. He plays a position that I value very much. Why? Because that’s who wins championships – teams that have players like Brock Bowers.”

Klatt continued to campaign for Bowers considering how highly he regards the tight end position. He thinks that spot should be very much respected considering how it can open things up for an offense if a useful player is in it.

That’s why, based on Bowers’ talent, Klatt is trying to help teams to avoid a mistake by not passing on him, even naming a team that he believes wouldn’t dare to let him get past them.

“Do not let anybody tell you that the tight end is a devalued position,” said Klatt. “Brock Bowers has high value as a tight end. Don’t let people tell you otherwise. If he falls into the middle of the first round? That’s a mistake. That is a mistake. I will be pounding the table on night one as I’m covering the draft for the NFL Network. I’ll be there with Rich Eisen, Daniel Jeremiah, and Charles Davis, night one and night two, in Detroit. I’ll be pounding the table – ‘Somebody take Brock Bowers!’

I don’t think he gets past Jim Harbaugh at five. I think the Chargers and, in particular, Jim Harbaugh understand the value of not just the tight end but of this tight end,” Klatt said. “It’s not just about being the best tight end in draft. It’s about being this guy and Brock Bowers is that guy.”

Bowers played in 40 games overall at Georgia and left Athens as their leading tight end as far as receiving categories. He finished third all-time in Bulldog history in catches with 175, fifth all-time in reception yards with 2,538, and second all-time in receiving touchdowns with 26.

That led Bowers to win two John Mackey Awards and be an Consensus All-American this past season. His production was also a major key for the Bulldogs en route to winning all but two games over his three-year collegiate career.

Klatt isn’t kidding when it comes to Bowers and his position in this upcoming draft in April. He hopes the teams near the top realize it to so as they don’t pass up on a great prospect, whether it’s because of their opinion on tight ends or not.

“How is Bowers being undervalued right now? This guy is insanely talented and he should be taken early in this draft,” Klatt stated.
