According to BetMGM, No. 9 Oregon is a 6.5-point favorite against Iowa this weekend. On Thursday, FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt revealed his prediction for the pivotal Big Ten showdown.

“These two teams both lost at home to Indiana. The Hawkeyes played them better than Oregon did,” Klatt said. “They were tied with under two minutes in that game in this stadium—Kinnick Stadium—so Iowa’s +6.5. What do we do with that after everything that I just said?

“Well, you know what? You take the points. I think Oregon wins the game. Oregon is going to find a way to win the game, which is sheer grit and determination. With their head coach, Dan Lanning, and their quarterback, Dante Moore, they win it 17-13, but I’m taking the +6.5 with Iowa.”

As Klatt mentioned, Iowa will be hosting the Ducks. Alas, Oregon hasn’t had any trouble winning on the road yet this season. Oregon is 3-0 in away games, including their double-overtime victory over Penn State in September.

Oregon’s sole loss of this season came against Indiana. The Ducks fell 30-20. In contrast, Iowa lost 20-15 to the Hoosiers.

Oregon had a bye last week, but looked far from impressive in its 21-7 win over Wisconsin in Week 9. In the win, the Ducks recorded just 132 passing yards.

For reference, Oregon is averaging 246.9 passing yards per game this season. In fairness, there were brief downpours of rain throughout the game, but Oregon’s passing performance still didn’t inspire confidence in onlookers.

Evidently, Klatt believes the Ducks will bounce back from the underwhelming performance on Saturday. Oregon shouldn’t expect Iowa to make it easy. In Week 9, the Hawkeyes dominated Minnesota in emphatic 41-3 fashion.

Iowa held the Golden Gophers to just 133 yards of offense and forced three turnovers in the win. The Hawkeyes only totaled 274 yards of offense, but they scored in all three phases of the game.

Oregon and Iowa will clash at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday. The game will air live on CBS.
