Joey Logano bumps Ty Gibbs under caution, fumes on radio after contact on restart

Joey Logano isn’t happy with Ty Gibbs. Logano took issue with the way Gibbs raced him in Stage 3 of Sunday’s race at Martinsville, and made sure to let him know.
The Team Penske driver bumped Gibbs’ No. 54 Toyota under caution. He then scolded him over his radio.
“F***er put me in the wall… he knows what happens,” Logano said, via Davey Segal of SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
From Logano’s perspective, he felt Gibbs squeezed him into the wall just prior to the Lap 201 caution for Riley Herbst‘s spin. Logano is now running 10th with Gibbs one spot ahead of him. Logano said his car is running well in clean air but once Gibbs blocks it off, he’s struggling to turn. Even if Logano wanted to retaliate, he can’t quite get to Gibbs. But overall, Logano’s team likes where he’s at.
“We know we’re better than these guys in the long run. Keep your right rear on it,” said Coleman Pressley, Logano’s spotter.

Joey Logano having solid day at Martinsville
While not nearly to the degree of Saturday’s Xfinity Series race, short track racing in Sunday’s race at Martinsville has produced lots of contact between drivers. This is just one example, though fortunately, nothing too crazy transpired.
Logano is more focused on finishing strong at Martinsville, something he’s struggled to do through six races this season. Logano came into Sunday’s race having led a NASCAR Cup Series-high 247 laps. The reigning Cup champion has been fast, but the finishes haven’t been there. Logano is still in search of his first top 10.
The way things are trending, Logano looks likely to get that top 10 at Martinsville. That would be great for the No. 22 team as they continue their title defense.
