Don’t look now, but Joey Logano is on the pole for the Mobil 1 301 at New Hampshire, and his championship hopes are bright. What’s the common theme with Logano in the years he wins the championship? He wins at Las Vegas and gets two more weeks to prep for Phoenix.

Right now, Joey Logano is looking to lock himself into the Round of 8 with a win on Sunday. He earned the pole, and it wasn’t even close. Ryan Blaney is on the outside of the front row. Then, it’s Josh Berry in P3. Team Penske didn’t come to play.

If you have been paying attention, this was not a shock. Logano has three top-fives in the last five races. Richmond, Gateway, and Bristol. New Hampshire fits that same mold. Starting on the pole and with the best pit stall, Logano is going to be hard to beat this weekend.

Joey Logano tends to take it up a notch at tracks that are sentimental to him. Atlanta and New Hampshire are as close to his heart and his development into a racecar driver as any two tracks on the schedule. It’s no wonder his performances at those tracks are so great.

Logano has won at New Hampshire twice in his career. However, he hasn’t won there in many years. This weekend could change that and could completely change these NASCAR Playoffs. Full qualifying results below:

Joey Logano threatening to make championship run

No matter what you think about the current playoff format, we could be watching Joey Logano solidify himself as the best to do it in the win-and-in and one-race championship round format. He’s already made that case with three championships between 2018 and 2024.

A win at New Hampshire would give Logano and crew chief Paul Wolfe time to focus on Las Vegas. It is perhaps the track that Logano has been best at in the Next Gen era. In 2022 and 2024, he won Vegas on his way to winning at Phoenix. Locking in early with a win and using the next two weeks to prepare for another race has proven to be the best way to advance in the postseason.

Now, I am getting a bit ahead of myself here. Logano has to go out and earn it. But this race likely won’t have much passing. It is going to take a mistake from Logano and his team and a really good performance from another team to prevent a win for the 22.

What’s the deal with Joey Logano this time of the year? He’s always been a high performer in the playoffs. Since 2014, he’s won 14 races in the NASCAR Playoffs. Can he do it again and make himself a championship favorite?
