Johni Broome NBA Summer League debut: How Auburn star performed with 76ers

Just a few days after hearing his name called at the 2025 NBA Draft, Johni Broome is already impressing in a Philadelphia 76ers jersey. Summer League began on Saturday night and Philadelphia went up against the Utah Jazz. Broome certainly looked right at home, finishing with an impressive stat line.
In 24 minutes played, the former Auburn star put up 13 points on 4-11 shooting (two of his four three-point attempts were made), while also snagging five rebounds. While Philadelphia wound up losing the game, it was an overall solid performance for Broome. You can check out his first bucket of the night, posted here.
Broome got the opportunity to play alongside some of the players drafted right at the top of the 2025 NBA Draft. One of his teammates, VJ Edgecombe, had a great night in his Summer League debut. On the opposite end, Ace Bailey got run with the Utah Jazz after a bizarre scenario surrounding his situation. Some nice starpower to open things up at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
Monday night is likely the next time Broome will be back on the court. Philadelphia will be on the front end of back-to-back games, with the Oklahoma City Thunder being first up. Tuesday will then bring a matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The 76ers will then make a quick trip from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas. Broome will be hoping to continue his solid first performance and put together a great summer. Making the roster as a second-round pick is always a challenge but so far, so good for Broome.

More on Johni Broome being selected in 2025 NBA Draft by 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers have selected former Auburn forward Johni Broome with the No. 35 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Broome transferred to Auburn ahead of the 2022-23 season after spending two years at Morehead State.
Broome was one of the best players in the country this past season, averaging 18.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.1 blocks per game. The 6-foot-10 standout shot 51.0% from the field and 27.8% from beyond the arc.
Fueled by Broome’s fantastic play, Auburn reached the Final Four this past season for just the second time in program history. For his efforts in the 2024-25 campaign, Broome was named the SEC Player of the Year and a Consensus All-American.
