Jon Rahm wins The 2023 Masters at Augusta National
Following a rain delay on Saturday that delayed the third round, Jon Rahm will put on the iconic green jacket after winning The 2023 Masters. When play was paused during the third round, Brooks Koepka led the field with a four-stroke lead at 13-under. It didn’t take long for him however to slip up and bring his score closer to the field — tying Jon Rahm after the fourth hole of the final round.
Two holes later, Rahm took the outright lead away and continued to build on it. Rahm carried it to the end with a fantastic day, and finished at 12-under par to win the prestigious jacket. The win pushed Rahm into exclusive company with Seve Ballesteros as the only two golfers from Spain to win two different major championships.

While Koepka struggled on the day, Rahm stayed steady despite a small hiccup down the stretch of the first nine. Koepka did cut his four-stroke lead down to three after the 16th hole, but Rahm continued to hit excellent shots and keep his lead through the finish.
Adding to the drama early in the final round, stars Phil Mickelson and Jordan Spieth posted the best scores of the day as a pairing. The duo rocketed up the leaderboard and finished in the top-five with golf still being played around them.
Mickelson’s 7-under final round left him tied for second place with Koepka at 8-under when he finished his tournament — leaving the door open for a possible shocker if Rahm stumbled. As Mickelson’s day ended, Koepka and Rahm finished their first nine with a bogey each — dropping Rahm’s lead to just two strokes.
Koepka’s fall from the top continued in large part from his inability to finish holes under par, while three bogies on the first nine pushed him backwards.
Tiger Woods withdraws with injury
While Rahm took care of business on Sunday and Mickelson shot up the leaderboard, Tiger Woods officially withdrew from his second major tournament in the last calendar year. Woods appeared to be in pain throughout the tournament, limping down the course on Saturday before the rain delay.
“Due to injury, Tiger Woods has officially withdrawn from the Masters Tournament after completing seven holes of his third round,” tweeted The Masters official account.
Moreover, the golfing legend was 6-over through the first seven completed holes of the third round. Additionally, Woods was 9-over through 43 holes. Unfortunately, the put him at the bottom of the 54 players who made the cut, 22 strokes behind leader Brooks Koepka at the time.
If Woods continued, he would’ve had to play 28 more holes on Sunday, which would’ve been a daunting challenge with a slim chance of victory.
