Tiger Woods has officially withdrawn from The Masters due to injury, the tournament announced early Sunday morning.

Throughout the tournament, Woods looked to be in consistent pain, limping through Saturday before the rain came.

“Due to injury, @TigerWoods has officially withdrawn from the Masters Tournament after completing seven holes of his third round. #themasters,” tweeted @TheMasters.

Moreover, the golfing legend was 6-over through the first seven completed holes of the third round. Additionally, Woods was 9-over through 43 holes. Unfortunately, the put him at the bottom of the 54 players who made the cut, 22 strokes behind leader Brooks Koepka at the time.

If Woods continued, he would’ve had to play 28 more holes on Sunday, which would’ve been a daunting challenge with a slim chance of victory.

Continuing, this is the second time over the last 365 days that Woods has withdrawn from a major championship due to injury, as he pulled out of the PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma last May.

As for the rest of the field, after rain suspended play at the third round The Masters Tournament in Augusta on Saturday, golfers take to the course again on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. ET, according to the official Masters Twitter account.

“The third round will resume Sunday at 8:30 a.m.,” The Masters tweeted Saturday afternoon. “CBS will air live coverage beginning at 8:30 a.m. through the conclusion of the third round. Ticket gates will open at 7 a.m., as previously scheduled.

“The final round is expected to begin at 12:30 p.m. off of Nos. 1 and 10 in pairings. The live broadcast will remain 2-7 p.m. on CBS, as originally scheduled.”

The Masters suspended play at 3:15 p.m. ET on Saturday, about two hours after the final groups teed off. Golfers endured around 45 minutes of rain and did their best to navigate conditions before the decision was made.

Play was also suspended on Friday after a tree fell at the 17th tee. The second round was completed on Saturday morning. As things currently stand, Brooks Koepka (13-under) is on top of the leaderboard. He holds a four-shot lead over Jon Rahm.

While Tiger Woods made the cut for the third round on Saturday, marking the 23rd straight time, a streak that tied him for the tournament record, he won’t be on the course on Sunday. Still, it should be an exciting day of golf.
