Jonathan Mingo injury update: Awful news emerges on Cowboys WR ahead of 2025 season

Dallas Cowboys receiver Jonathan Mingo is expected to miss the start of the regular season due to a PCL injury, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Mingo suffered the injury Saturday in a preseason contest against the Baltimore Ravens.
Schultz reported that Mingo is expected to miss at least a month. That would set his earliest possible return date for a Week 3 matchup against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 21.
Mingo is getting ready to enter his second season in Dallas after being traded from the Carolina Panthers midway through the 2024 season. He played in eight games for the Cowboys and finished with five catches for 46 yards.
Mingo suffered the injury while making a 49-yard catch against the Ravens, which also happened to be the biggest gain for the offense this preseason. That was his only catch of the preseason.
“I caught the ball and landed,” Mingo said per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I didn’t feel it until I got to the line of scrimmage, really. Your body got adrenaline and stuff. You don’t really know what’s going on.”
So far, Mingo’s best season came as a rookie with the Panthers in 2023. The second-round pick out of Ole Miss recorded 43 catches for 418 yards.
Surprisingly, Jonathan Mingo has still yet to score his first touchdown in the NFL. He’ll hope to break that milestone this year once he gets healthy.

NFL will not fine Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb for collision with referee
According to Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News, the NFL will not fine Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb after an official ran into him during a preseason game. Watkins says if the moment occurred during the regular season, the scenario might be different. But Lamb will escape losing any money.
“FYI The NFL will not fine CeeDee Lamb for interfering with an official,” Watkins said via X. “Last week the side judge ran into Lamb while covering a pass play. Normally when a player not in the game bumps into an official it’s a fine. Not this time.”
During the game, the Cowboys were hit with a 15-yard penalty due to Lamb’s actions. He was getting ahead of a deep pass thrown by Joe Milton, believing he would connect for a long play. Lamb kept his head down and an official came crashing into him.
“It’s a sideline interference,” referee Alex Moore said after the game. “CeeDee Lamb was standing in the restricted white border area, which is our area to officiate the game. The official on the play was focused solely on doing his job and he ran into CeeDee Lamb, who was standing in that restricted area. That’s what happened. And with that contact, it’s an automatic foul.
“It’s more of a rare situation… Normally we don’t have anybody standing that deep into the restricted area, or that type of forceful contact. So, it is a rare occurrence, but it does happen from time to time.”
