With 1:46 remaining in the first quarter against the New York Jets, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen left the game. Allen ran off the field and appeared to be bleeding from his nose.

Mitch Trubisky replaced Allen while he was being examined on the sideline. Before leaving the game, Allen threw three completions for 14 total yards.

Allen didn’t allow the bloody nose to keep him out for long. The reigning NFL MVP returned to the game after the medical staff stuffed his left nostril with gauze.

The Bills will be happy to have Allen back on the field. He was spectacular in the team’s season-opening 41-40 win over the Baltimore Ravens. In the triumph, Allen completed 33-of-his-46 pass attempts for 394 yards and two touchdowns, without throwing an interception.

Moreover, Allen notched two TDs in the ground game. It was a stunning comeback victory for the Bills, who trailed 40-25 at one point in the fourth quarter. Josh Allen raved about his team after the game.

“It took everybody there. I’m just proud of our team for staying in it,” Allen said. “No one on the sideline blinked. I mean, down 15 points, whatever we were with five, six minutes left. Staying with it, fans leaving the stadium, you got to play this game for 60 minutes. And that’s a really good outfit that we just played, and God willing, we take care of business how we’re supposed to and how we think we will.”

Joe Burrow leaves game with toe injury, undergoes MRI

Unlike Allen, Joe Burrow didn’t return from injury on Sunday. The Cincinnati Bengals QB left the game in the second quarter after suffering a toe injury on his left foot. He went to the locker room after leaving the game and underwent an MRI, per FOX19‘s Jeremy Rauch.

The injury occurred when Jaguars defensive lineman Arik Armstead rolled onto Burrow’s ankle after sacking him. It was the second time Burrow had been sacked in the contest.

Before suffering the injury, Burrow completed seven passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. The injury is far from Burrow’s first. In 2020, Burrow suffered a season-ending ACL tear. More recently, Burrow missed the final seven games of the 2023 campaign after suffering an injury to his right wrist.

Despite Burrow’s standout season last year, he had a subpar showing in the Bengals’ season-opener against the Cleveland Browns last week. In the win, Burrow completed just 14-of-his-23 pass attempts for 113 yards and a touchdown.
