Josh Berry opens up on closure of Stewart-Haas Racing

Another member of the Stewart-Haas Racing team has weighed in following the momentous decision of the organization to close its doors at year’s end, with No. 4 driver Josh Berry weighing in on the heavy news.

Berry signed with SHR last summer as a replacement for Kevin Harvick in the No. 4 car.

“Today was a tough day for all of us,” Berry wrote on Twitter. “It is pretty hard to find the right words. I’m proud of our team for how they have been handling this and will going forward. [Crew chief Rodney Childers] is a true leader. We will keep racing our hearts out every Sunday.”

It’s been a somewhat difficult year for Berry so far in the Cup Series, where he currently stands in 19th place with 263 points.

But Berry has been driving better in recent weeks. He finished third at Darlington and third at North Wilkesboro before finishing in 10th at Charlotte last weekend.

The news will be a crushing blow, as he and his team will have to now begin seeking new arrangements beyond the 2024 season.

He’s not the only Stewart-Haas Racing driver wrestling with the news.

Chase Briscoe reacts to Stewart-Haas Racing closure

In addition to Berry, Chase Briscoe also reacted to the news of the closure on his Twitter account in a short video.

“Hey everybody, here in the parking lot at Stewart-Haas (Racing),” Briscoe said. “Just got the news that we’re shutting down at the end of the year. So yeah, crazy time. I never thought this day would come. I’ve been at Stewart Haas for the last seven years now. It’s truthfully became like a home to me and feels like a family. Just what an incredible group of men and women at this place that just make it feel like home and just make you enjoy coming to work each and every day.

“First and foremost I just hope that all the guys and gals of this place find a great opportunity, because each and every single person here deserves it,” he said. “Just an incredible group of people that have all put in so much hard work and effort and just sacrificed so much for me to be able to live out my dream of driving racecars and winning at the highest level. It’s crazy knowing that this will be the last year that I drive the 14 car, the car that I looked up to growing up and obviously idolized growing up. Crazy times for sure.”
