Josh Williams will make his NASCAR Xfinity Series return in next Friday’s Wawa 250 at Daytona International Speedway. Daytona will be Williams’ first start since his departure from Kaulig Racing last month.

Williams is now slated to compete in four upcoming races at Daytona, Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course, Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Phoenix Raceway. According to Austin Konenski of Motorsports Wire, Williams is expected to drive the No. 45 car for Alpha Prime Racing at Daytona.

Optum has partnered with Alloy Employer Services to sponsor Williams at Daytona. The information and technology-enabled health services business will also serve as the official sponsor of the Josh Williams Hospital Tour. Williams will “travel to children’s hospitals across the length of the racing season where he hosts in-hospital TV shows, visits with children and their families, and offers kids the opportunity to add their handprint to the paint scheme for the final race of each season,” per the press release.

Williams said the following in a statement: “It’s real important for me to have companies that believe in me, my career, and my dedication to the hospital tour. Alloy Employer Services has been behind me for years and having Optum join the program is another reminder that what we’re doing matters.

“This has been a trying time for my family, me and my fans, and the support throughout the garage and my partners has been a bright spot. I’m looking forward to representing Optum at races throughout the year as well as on the Josh Williams Hospital Tour.”

Williams, who previously drove full-time for DGM Racing in Xfinity, joined Kaulig ahead of the 2024 season. He finished 18th in the standings last season. Before his release, Williams sat 19th in this season’s points standings, compiling two top 10s. He finished 22nd in the July 26 race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in what ended up being his final start for Kaulig.
