Justin Fields injury update: Pittsburgh Steelers QB added to injury report ahead of MNF

Justin Fields was added to the Pittsburgh Steelers injury report, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. He is considered questionable for Monday Night Football vs. the New York Giants.
The former Ohio State quarterback is dealing with a hamstring injury.
Fields serves as the Steelers’ starting quarterback for the first six games of the season while Russell Wilson was recovering from an injury of his own. Pittsburgh opted to start Wilson in favor of Fields despite leading the Steelers to a 4-2 record to start the year.
According to reports leading up to last week’s game against the New York Jets, head coach Mike Tomlin wanted to see what Wilson could do at QB for the Steelers. The veteran was 16 of 29 passing for 264 yards with two passing touchdowns in Pittsburgh’s 37-15 win over the Jets. He also rushed for a score.
Of course, Wilson is a former Super Bowl-winning quarterback and his resume speaks for himself. After two dissapointing seasons with the Denver Broncos, Wilson is looking for a fresh start in Pittsburgh.
However, that means Fields has had to take a back seat to Wilson since his return. Now dealing with a hamstring injury, it may only set him back further — especially if Wilson has a strong showing on Monday.

Field completed 106 of his 160 passes for 1,106 yards with five touchdowns and one interception. He added 55 carries for 231 yards and five additional touchdowns on the ground and is still the team’s second-leading rusher through seven weeks.
Elsewhere on the injury report, veteran running back Cordarrelle Patterson has been downgraded to out for the matchup. Both Fields and Patterson get to rest up during the Steelers bye week after Monday. Their status against the Washington Commanders in Week 9 remains to be seen.
Kickoff between the Steelers and Giants for Monday Night Football is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET live from Pittsburgh on ABC and ESPN.
